Mountains Have Come Closer is a collection of poems by Jim Wayne Miller which draw on his life experiences growing up and living in Appalachia. Miller was awarded the Thomas Wolfe Award for the book in 1980.

About the Author

Jim Wayne Miller (1936-1996) was born in Leicester, North Carolina. He received his B.A. from Berea College in 1958 and his Ph.D. in German Literature from Vanderbilt University in 1965. He was a professor of German language and literature at Western Kentucky University and a major influence on literature and poetry in the Appalachian region.
