Submissions
JER Author Guidelines
Submissions should be sent as MS Word documents or compatible formats to [email protected]. They must be double spaced, 12 point Times Roman, if possible. Submissions should be no longer than 10,000 words including notes. Footnotes should be formatted in Chicago style. Journal style calls for omnibus endnotes: that is, one endnote per paragraph. We suggest that authors refer to previous issues of the JER to get a sense of our format and style. Pages should be numbered. All author-identifying information should be removed from your initial submission. Please also send a second file that includes a short, 1-paragraph abstract (no more than 250 words) for your essay and your name, title, and contact information.
The best JER submissions will make clear how the research advances a historiographical question concerning the era of the early republic. Please direct any questions to the editors or to the JER’s managing editor Kate Tyler Wall ([email protected]).
