Alyssa Brown, Acquisitions Coordinator

I provide administrative and operational support for the Acquisitions department at UNC Press, serving as a liaison between the Acquisitions team and other Press departments. Working closely with authors and Press colleagues across multiple departments, I facilitate the transmittal of manuscripts to Editing/Design/Production (EDP) following final submission of materials. I also manage acquisitions-related files and archives, update workflows and documentation, and assist with the contracts process.

As a lifelong Chapel Hill local, I attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where I received a BA in US History with a double minor in Sexuality Studies and Asian Studies, followed by an MS in Library Science. My graduate research explored the intersections between LIS and fan studies, focusing on community archives and descriptive metadata. Prior to joining the Press in 2022, I worked as a library assistant and freelance copyeditor.
