Sandra Korn, Editor

Labor history, history of science and medicine, environmental history, and urban history

I acquire books in labor history, history of medicine, environmental history, and urban history. This includes the Flows, Migrations, and Exchanges series and the Studies in Social Medicine series, as well as book projects in environmental studies, history of science, and the medical humanities outside those series.  Within the fields I acquire, I admire books that intersect with and pay attention to how sexuality, gender, disability, race, colonialism, religion, and relationships to land and capital have shaped our past and our present. I am particularly excited about book projects that tell stories of poor and working people’s collective efforts to transform our world, and I am interested in working with authors who are experimenting with the form of scholarly writing.

Prior to joining UNC Press, I was an acquisitions editor at Wayne State University Press, where I edited books that earned prizes including the National Jewish Book Award, Midwest Book Awards, and the Gourmand World Cookbook Award, and a finalist for the Hurston/Wright Legacy Awards. I also previously worked as Assistant Editor for religion at Duke University Press. I have an undergraduate degree in History of Science and Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality studies, and a master’s degree in History of Science, both from Harvard.
