Tara Jordan, Acquisitions Assistant

I assist Cate Hodorowicz and Mark Simpson-Vos with their acquisitions in religion, Civil War history, Western history and borderlands studies, literary nonfiction, labor history, and food studies. I work throughout the acquisitions process to facilitate peer review, maintain project files, manage correspondence with our authors and peer reviewers, and transmit accepted manuscripts for copyediting, design, and production.

I have a Ph.D. in musicology from UNC Chapel Hill, where I studied interwar Sephardic Jewish musics of the Balkans. My research explored the intersections of music and memory in Holocaust historiography. I also received an M.M. from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and a B.M. from Furman University. Prior to joining UNC Press, I was an intern in Duke University Press’s acquisitions department.
